I. Maintenance of Oil and Oil Filter
- Oil Selection and Replacement: Given the critical role of oil consumption and lubrication performance in turbocharging technology, it is recommended to use the oil specified by the original manufacturer or high-quality semi-synthetic or full-synthetic oil to ensure adequate lubrication and cooling for the turbocharger's main spindle. Additionally, the oil replacement interval should be determined based on actual usage, and it is imperative to avoid using fake or non-compliant oil to prevent damage to the turbocharger.
- Oil Filter Replacement: Regularly replace the oil filter to prevent impurities from entering the oil system and affecting the lubrication effect of the turbocharger.
II. Cleaning and Replacement of Air Filter
Regularly clean or replace the air filter to prevent pollutants such as dust from entering the high-speed rotating impeller of the turbocharger, thereby preventing premature damage to the turbocharger due to reduced lubrication performance of the oil.
III. Startup and Shutdown Operations
- Preheating Before Startup: After starting the engine, especially in cold seasons, let it idle for a period to ensure that the lubricating oil has adequately lubricated the bearings before the turbocharger rotor rotates at high speed.
- Avoid Immediate Engine Shutdown: To prevent the oil inside the turbocharger from scorching due to sudden engine shutdown, it should be avoided. After prolonged heavy-load driving, let the engine idle for 3-5 minutes before shutting it down to reduce rotor speed.
- Avoid Sudden Acceleration: Avoid suddenly increasing the throttle immediately after starting the engine to prevent damaging the turbocharger's oil seal.
IV. Regular Inspections and Maintenance
- Check the Integrity of the Turbocharger: Listen for abnormal sounds, check for air leaks at mating surfaces, and inspect the internal flow channels and inner walls of the casing for burs or protrusions, as well as contamination on the impeller and diffuser.
- Check Seals and Oil Lines: Regularly inspect the seals, lubricating oil lines, and their connections on the turbocharger to ensure they are intact.
V. Precautions
- Avoid Using Inferior Oil: Inferior oil may accelerate wear on the internal parts of the turbocharger, shortening its lifespan.
- Maintain Normal Engine Operating Temperature: Engine temperatures that are too high or too low can affect the normal operation of the turbocharger, so it should be maintained within the normal operating temperature range.
- Regularly Clean Carbon Deposits: On urban roads, due to speed limits, the turbocharging system may not often function. Prolonged traffic congestion may lead to carbon deposition, affecting turbocharger efficiency and overall engine performance. Therefore, it is recommended to clean carbon deposits every 20,000-30,000 kilometers.
