The function of an air filter is to remove particulate impurities from the air. When a diesel engine is working, it is necessary to inhale air. If the inhaled air contains impurities such as dust, it will exacerbate the wear of moving parts of the diesel engine (such as bearing shells or bearings, piston rings, etc.) and reduce its service life. Due to the fact that construction machinery usually operates under harsh conditions with high dust content in the air, it is crucial to properly select and maintain air filters for all equipment to extend engine life.

Precautions before maintenance

Do not clean the air filter element until the air filter blockage control light on the excavator monitor flashes. If the filter element is frequently cleaned before the blockage monitor flashes, it will actually reduce the performance and cleaning effect of the air filter, and also increase the probability of dust adhering to the outer filter element falling into the inner filter element during the cleaning operation.

Precautions during maintenance

1. To prevent dust from entering the engine, when cleaning the excavator air filter element, do not remove the inner filter element. Only remove the outer filter element for cleaning, and do not use a screwdriver or other tools to avoid damaging the filter element.

2. After removing the filter element, cover the air inlet inside the filter housing with a clean cloth in a timely manner to prevent dust or other dirt from entering.

3. When the filter element has been cleaned 6 times or has been used for 1 year, and the seal or filter paper is damaged or deformed, please immediately replace both the inner and outer filter elements. To ensure the normal service life of the equipment, please choose Komatsu air filter.

4. If the monitor indicator light flashes shortly after the cleaned external filter element is installed back in the engine, even if the filter element has not been cleaned 6 times, please replace both the external and internal filter elements at the same time.
